Bidar: The sessions court reserved its order in the bail hearing of two arrested people who were slapped with sedition charges for an anti-CAA skit performed by students of Shaheen Urdu Primary School in Bidar.

At the hearing, Principal District and Sessions Court Judge Managuli Premavati reserved orders till February 14 while also adjourning the matter of five other accused in the case till February 17.

It can be recalled that school headmistress Farida Begum and a student’s parent Nazbunnisa were taken into judicial custody after the incident of students staging an anti-CAA drama at the school came to light.

The other five accused in the case have been identified as President of Shaheen Educational Institution Abudl Khader and management committee members Allauddin, Md Bilal Inamdar, Yusuf Raheem, and Md Mehetab.

Representing the defendants, counsel argued that the said drama did not warrant sedition charges as the actions were protected by Freedom of Expression. However, the public prosecutor stated that a police investigation into the matter was ongoing and that releasing the accused on bail could impact it.
