Sirsi man enters Limca records for weaving mat blindfolded

Sirsi: A young man from Sirsi has entered the Linca Book of World Records (LBWR) by accomplishing a rare feat of weaving a mat blindfolded within four hours.

Ravindra Ramachandra Hegde had started knitting mats using plastic packing strips during his leisure hours. He made  mats of various sizes as he enjoyed making them. This was sheer hobby for him and never did he know that his humble mats made out of waste plastic packing bags would bring him this laurel.

It is his stint of weaving mats in the dark during power failure that helped him knit one blindfolded.

He has woven more than 1,000 mats on demand by agriculturists from Uttara Kannada and the neighbouring districts.

A video of him weaving a mat blind-folded was sent to the Limca Book of World Records and recently, he received a certificate of confirming the entry in records, according to report on Sunday.
