Bhatkal: Five persons were drowned in Arabian sea in Murdeshwar on July 26. Three of the victims hailed from Maruti Nagar of Kamakshipalya in Bangalore and two from Rajajinagar, Bangalore.
It is said that 14 people from a family visited Murdeshwar after visiting Kollur and Sandhnoor. Five of them had reportedly ventured into the sea for swimming, but they were washed away when a heavy wave hit them.
Victims were identified as Savitri Ravi Kumar(37), her daughter Soumaya Ravi Kumar(16), their relative Bhumika Prakash (16), Taxi drivers Siddaramanna (37) and Vijay Kumar (30).
Two of them were saved by the local people.
Murdeshwar police have registered a case in this regard.
