LPG tanker accident at Kumta claims four lives

Kumta: An accident on National Highway 66 in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district during the wee hours of Tuesday claimed the lives of four persons and injured ten.

Reportedly a tanker carrying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) overturned when the driver of the tanker lost control near Bargi. The tanker belonged to the Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).

Several houses and properties in the surrounding areas have been damaged due to fire. The injured persons were rushed to Kumta and Manipal hospitals.

The tanker continued engulfing huge flames and hence a number of fire tenders were rushed to the spot to get the situation under control.
