Bengaluru: In a sensational development, the Reddy brothers of the mining mafia infamy, have warned of destabilizing the state government, if Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa goes ahead and divides the Ballari district.
It can be recalled that, earlier in the day, CM Yediyurappa had announced that a separate district, Vijayanagara will be carved out of the Ballari district.
The Reddy brothers’ warning comes as an apparent reaction to the fear of a reduction in their political clout.
“Such a decision is Tughlaq darbar,” said Ballari Urban MLA Somashekar Reddy.
“There are 18 taluks in Belagavi. First, let the government divide the Belagavi district,” he said.
“We will not allow anyone to divide the Ballari district. The government that tries to divide Balllari will not survive,” he warned.
It can be noted that health minister B Sreeramulu has also opposed the move.
