Ballari: After three days of being arrested, Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik was was released from the central prison here on bail on Sunday November 15
Having been arrested on November 12 from Hassan, ahead of the state-wide protest called by VHP and Bajrang Dal against the celebrations of Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary and the violence that had erupted in Madikeri in which a VHP leader was killed, Muthalik was then shifted to the central prison here under the instructions of Hassan tahsildar.
Along with him, 20 more persons had also been arrested by the police as precautionary measure, under sections 107 and 151 of Criminal Procedure Code pertaining to apprehension about breach of peace and tranquility.
After he secured bail and was released, Muthalik told media persons that he was neither a terrorist nor a black marketeer. He expressed his resentment at the manner in which he was arrested, saying that there was no plausible reason for the government to arrest him.
