Ballari: Controversy seems to hound Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde wherever he goes. The minister, yet again made it to the news after he referred to Dalit protesters as ‘barking dogs’.
The incident took place on Saturday during Hegde’s visit to Ballari to participate in a job fair. On arrival, Hegde’s car was gheraoed by Dalit activists who termed the minister as an anti-Dalit for his ‘change the constitution’ remarks before police came to the rescue of Hegde.
Later, while speaking at the job fair hegde said that he was not worried about ‘barking dogs’ in a reference to the protesting Dalit activists.
“I am here to realise the dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to transform the country into a skilled Bharat. We will go ahead with this commitment and not care about barking stray dogs,” said Hegde.
His remarks drew the anger of Dalit organisations and few activists waved black falgs at the leader post the programme.
