Nearly 1,600 youngsters to take part in Ballari youth convention from Oct 24-27

Ballari: Over 1,600 youth leaders from all over Karnataka will be organising and attending a four-day convention or a “Yuvajanotsava” on the theme “Youth Caring for Earth for a Better World” in Ballari from October 24 to October 27.

Aimed at empowering the youth towards securing leadership roles, Yuvajanotsava is jointly organized by the Karnataka Catholic Bishops’ Council (KRCBC) Youth Commission and the Ballari diocese. The event will be held at ADHYTMA Hall on the premises of the Ballari Arogya Mathe Shrine Church.

During the convention, the youngsters will deliberate on various topics such as caring for Mother Earth, promotion of innovative farming, strengthening constitutional democracy, and interreligious harmony, among other topics.

The convention will be inaugurated by Poojya Nijagunaprabhu Thontadarya Swamigalu of Thontadarya Mutt, Mundargi and Nishkala Mantap, Bailur on October 24 at 5 pm.

Ballari Bishop Dr Henry D’Souza will preside over the function. Ballari Rural MLA Nagendra, MLCs KC Kondiah and Allum Veerbhadrappa will be the chief guests of the inaugural ceremony.

Eminent personalities such as former Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde, progressive and innovative farmer Kavitha Mishra, and Suryanarayana Reddy will address the young gathering at the convention.

The youth leaders will also be launching a number of service programmes on October 26 at 3 pm.

Karnataka Health Minister Sriramulu will launch the Swachch Bharat cleanliness drive at VIMS, Ballari. Local MLA G Somshekar Reddy will inaugurate the ‘Green Karnataka’ sapling plantation programme. In addition, the youth will take up other programmes such as ‘Beautiful Ballari Wall Painting’ programme and ‘Caring Ballari’ blood donation camp in the city.

The youngsters will also hold a rally for peace and progress on Sunday, October 27. The Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Peter Machado and other Bishops of Karnataka will lead the rally and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Nasser Hussain will flag off the rally.

The valedictory programme will be attended by the Archbishop of Bangalore, the Bishops of Karnataka, former minister and MLA KJ George, MLC Ivan D’Souza, and ex-MLA JR Lobo on Sunday, October 27.
