Ballari: In a recent incident, a group of miscreants who visited Hampi have damaged the huge stone pillars of the Gajashala Vishnu Temple premises. The video footage of the incident has gone viral on social network.

A tourist captured the actions of the miscreants on his mobile phone. The video which has gone viral has raised a sharp outrage from the public.

Inspite of the Indian Archaeological Survey Department, Hampi World Heritage Management Authority and the Police Department’s security for the protection of the monuments in Hampi, such an incident has occurred and this is very concerning.

Vishwanath Mali, Vijayanagara Memorial Cultural Conservation Convener said that a protest would be staged on Monday, February 4, demanding action against those who committed the disgraceful act and a petition to take necessary action will be submitted to ASI office and police sub-divisional office.

However, Arun Rangarajan, Superintendent of Police of Bellary, has not commented anything on the incident but said the investigations are on.
