Ballari: Unemployment is a bitter reality for Indians. It is all the more disheartening to see post graduates and toppers staying at home without jobs.
In Hiremallanakere village of Huvina Hadagali taluk of Ballari district, five Political Science Post Graduates, including a first rank holder have taken up jobs under MGNREG as they have not been able to find suitable employment opportunities for themselves. This means the PGs are working as daily wage workers.
As part of drought relief works, these post graduates are given job of lifting sludge from the local lake. These five are among the 500 people who have been assigned the job. They are offered Rs.249 per day as wage. Ulavatti Garudappa, MA Political Science first rank holder of 2013 from Krishnadevaraya University, Ballari is also one of the labourers working.
Speaking to the media persons, Garudappa informed that he is working as a guest lecturer in a private college. “As there are no classes now due to vacation, I am working as daily wage labourer. I am doing this job since 2015,” he said.
