Hosapete: Congress leader V S Ugrappa has criticized Vijayanagar BJP Assembly by-poll candidate Anand Singh for flaunting his wealth during his son’s wedding.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, December 3, he said, “Anand Singh is the ‘king of money’ and is overconfident that everything and anything can be bought with money. But, let him remember that the electorates of the Vijayanagar constituency cannot be bought with money. If he thinks he can, then it will only remain a dream.”
“He has shown his attitude when filing his nomination by curling his moustache and challenging his opponents. This is nothing but arrogance. On one occasion, he ever shed tears because he was afraid of losing. He is trying to manipulate the voters,” he added.
Lashing out at Singh for constructing one of the most expensive bungalows in the state, Ugrappa said, “A person who was behind bars on charges of illegal mining has now built an empire of over Rs 100 crores. He has illegally occupied the lands of the poor and has built a layout. He has also shut down the ISR sugar factory just because that the factory was emitting ashes, which were affecting his bungalow. These are Anand Singh’s biggest achievements. Are such people even eligible to become legislators again? Such people will be taught a lesson by the voters themselves.”
Meanwhile, alleging that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and state law minister J C Madhu Swamy had violated the Model Election Code of Conduct repeatedly, he questioned whether the Election Commission of India (ECI) was sound asleep.
