Ballari: With the approach of the Lok Sabha elections, the verbal feud between members of various parties is heating up, leading to many controversial statements. Following the JDS leaders’ decision to question the caste of Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of late former minister Ambareesh, the BJP leaders started questing the caste and nationality of Sonia Gandhi.
Addressing a BJP rally in Ballari, B Sreeramulu questioned the Congress and JDS’s double standards on the caste issue. “If Sumalatha does not become a Vokkaliga after her marriage to Ambareesh, how can Sonia become Indian? what is her caste and nationality now?” he questioned.
B Sreeramulu’s statement has not gone down well with many. On Thursday, social media was flooded with condemnation for his statement. Meanwhile, the Congress party is likely to approach the Election Commission in this regard.
