Bellary: In these schools, instead of the regular Chitranna (Lemon Rice) or Upma, now students will be served Idlis -sambar on Saturday.It is to make midday meals attractive to students and to increase the student strength in schools, four government primary schools in Hadagali taluk of Bellary have changed the meal menu on Saturdays.
There are 1,677 schools serving midday meals in the district and the experiment has been successful at the four schools, said Education Office Mallikarjun Swami.
“When the schools approached us for a change in the menu, we asked them to keep the costs within the prescribed limits and so far, it has been working well”,he said.
