Ballari: Scenes of panic were witnessed after a phone call informing about a bomb below the stage was received where Valmiki Jayanti was being celebrated in Sirguppa town in Ballari district on Saturday, October 15.
According to police sources, Jayaram Reddy who was on the dais received a call when the function was half way through. Nagi Reddy, Circle Inspector of Police, who was also on the stage and his staff, undertook a search. They realised that it was a hoax call. When the police did some verification, it turned out to be one Ravihal Adeppa’s number. When asked for his cell phone, Adeppa said that it was missing.
After the incident, the function, in which B.M. Nagaraj, MLA and other elected representatives and officials participated, continued.
Sirguppa police have registered a case based on the complaint from Jayaram Reddy.
