Bellari: The police exhumed the dead body of the girl who was reportedly killed by her father and brothers as she had married a boy of her choice, outside her religion. The dead body was forwarded to VIMS Hospital for post mortem.

The victim, Reshma Bhanu (20), a resident of Hampasagar village of Hagaribommanahalli had married Nagaraja (18) from Chithradurga. In fit of rage, her brothers and father had killed her and her husband on March 24.

However, the family had hushed up the case stating that the girl had died of cardiac arrest. The police has now exhumed the body after 26 days of cremation and had forwarded the body for forensic tests to ascertain the reason behind the death.

The body was exhumed from the spot shown by her father and brother, who are now under arrest for the murder. While Reshma’s mother was seen crying inconsolably as her daughter’s dead body was exhumed, parents of deceased Nagaraja were also at the spot, leaving eyebrows raised.
