Ballari: Normal life stands disrupted in several parts of the city following a bandh call issued by various organisations in protest against the division of the district into two. The state government is planning to divide Ballari into two districts by forming a separate Vijayanagara district, with Hospet town as the district headquarters.
As per initial reports, several Kannada organisations were blocking roads in several parts of the city by setting tyres on fire. Bus movement has been halted and the business establishments are shut down. But in the rural areas life is normal, said sources.
This bandh is supported by all the parties including the ruling BJP party.
