Ballari: Ever since the election dates were announced, people in this district complain that the ATM machines have run dry. The dispensation of torn, patched notes of Rs 500 denomination just seemed to further worsen their woes.
The incident has been reported from Hollu village of Hagagl taluk in the district.
A villager named Ramachari had received three torn Rs 500 notes when he withdrew Rs 2000 from the SBI ATM here. Soon, thereafter another customer too faced a similar problem while withdrawing Rs 5000 cash. He got four torn notes.
When the customers approached the bank to report the incident and ask replacement for the torn notes, bank officials asked them to come to the bank the next day, since it was a non-business day.
The locals are worried about the state of affairs and connect these happening to the election.
