Ballari: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have caught Special Land Acquisition officer of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Ismail Saheb and staff K Siddappa red handed, receiving bribes on Tuesday, October 15.
The raid was conducted on Ismail’s residence in the LLC Colony, on the outskirts of the city.
According to official sources, Ismail and Siddappa were receiving a bribe in connection with the land acquisition in the Murudi village of the Chitradurga district for construction of the national highway road. The land was owned by a person named A Venkataramana.
The accused were caught receiving Rs 8,000 in bribes for a Rs 1,04,828 compensation cheque.
ACB DySP Chandrakanth Poojary said that the raid was conducted based on information provided by the land owner, who alleged that the duo was asking for a bribe.
