Belagavi: An elderly man was killed in a head-on collision between a lorry and a car near Yamanapur Bridge on National Highway 4 here on July 5.
The deceased has been identified as Shashidhar Angadi (75), father of noted physician Dr. Naveen Angadi and a resident of Bhagyanagar, Belagavi.
The lorry was moving from Belgavi to Kolhapur in Maharastra. Reportedly, Angadi was returning home in his car after attending a wedding at Gokak. According to eyewitnesses, the lorry was speeding when the man behind the wheels lost control. As a result, the lorry jumped the divider and smashed head-on into the car.
The impact was so severe that Angadi lost his life on the spot.
A case is registered at the Belagavi North Traffic Police Station.
