Belagavi: AICC President Rahul Gandhi visited Saudatti taluk and sought blessings of presiding deity Goddess Yallama(Renuka Devi) at Yallammana Gudda. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
In wake of the visit, the entry of general public was restricted for about two hours. Thus devotees remained waiting in queue outside the temple, fighting scorching heat.
Gandhi was accorded a hearty welcome by Saudatti Yallamma temple management committee President Ramangouda Tiprashi and Administrator Ravi Kotargasti.
Incidentally, Gandhi received prasadam from temple chief priest Yeddyurappa, after special prayers were offered.
Chief Minister Siddharamiah, Dr G Parameshwar, DK Shivkumar, Laxmi Hebbalkar also sought darshan along with Rahul Gandhi.
Only Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge and senior congress leader Margaret Alva opted to remain outside the temple. Rahul Gandhi later left to Ramdurg where he interacted with farmers at their houses and attended Janashirvad public meeting.
