The bandh received good response amid tight police security in and around Chikkodi town. All the commercial shops were closed to extend support to bandh. The state bus as well the private transportation service were forcibly stopped when they started plying as usual in the morning. As a precautionary measure, holiday was declared to all the government and private schools in Chikkodi town limits.

Thousands of people under the banner of the committee took out rallies through the main streets of Chikkodi. College students and the activists of various organisations participated in the rally. They expressed fury over the state government which had “failed” in its commitment of announcing district status to Chikkodi given during the previous by-elections of Chikkodi Assembly Constituency.

Committee President B R Sangappagol warned that the protest would continue until Chikkodi got the district status.
