Last rites of Suresh Angadi to be held in New Delhi as per COVID rules

Belagavi: The last rites of Minister of State Railways Suresh Angadi, who passed away onn Wednesday evening will be performed today, September 24, in New Delhi at 4 pm.

Though the body should have been brought to his native village in Belagavi, it is the strict COVID rules that are preventing the same.

The family members and supporters of Angadi had expressed their desire to make sure that the last rites of the BJP leader is performed in Belagavi.

Several attempts were made by Karnataka leaders too, but with the COVID norms in place, the leader’s last rites will now be performed at Dwaraka Sector-24, in New Delhi.

Family members of Suresh Angadi have left to New Delhi and the decision to perform the last rites in New Delhi was taken by the family members.

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Jagadish Shettar, whose son Sankalp is married to Agadi’s daughter is already in New Delhi.

The last rites will be performed as the COVID guidelines, said sources. Suresh Angadi was tested positive for Covid-19 on September 11.
