Belagavi: Warning against the possible complacency after the Congress’ win in the recently held Assembly elections, former prime minister and Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda said that nobody can ignore Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he is a “fighter and will not sit quiet.”
Listing the NDA’s failures, HDD said that ignoring the farmers’ and the common man’s problems as well as demonetisation, GST issues and bad economic policies made the BJP suffer heavy consequences. But, he added, “We must unite in order to face him (Modi) in the Lok Sabha polls.”
About the trends in the recently held elections, HDD said that the results in Telangana and Mizoram show that national parties cannot afford to ignore regional parties as they play a key role in national politics. He then advised the Congress to take regional parties into confidence in order to mobilise the anti-BJP parties.
