Belagavi: In a disheartening incident, a man who contested the GP elections died merely a few days before the poll results are out.
Unfortunately, 67-year-old CB Amboji, who contested from Kakkeri GP in Khanapur is not alive, but his people have voted him in large numbers and he has emerged victorious.
The polling was held on December 22 and on Dec 27 Amboji passed away following a cardiac arrest. However, on Dec 30 when the poll results came, it was revealed that Amboji had won the election.
An advocate by profession, he had contested the GP polls for five time and lost only once. He had served one term as President of the Panchayat.
