Bengaluru: A Belagavi-based hotelier has been detained in connection to the murder of activist, journalist Gauri Lankesh.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials probing the case suspect the involvement of the hotelier, who also happens to be an active member of Shiv Pratishtan Hindustan in providing refuge to Parashuram Waghmare, an arrested accused in the case. Shiv Pratishtan Hindustan is a Hindutva organisation led by Maharashtra’s Manohar alias Sambhaji Bhidhe.
As per SIT official the hotelier had been taken for questioning and he could be arrested if it is found that he had a role to play in the murder.
SIT investigations had revealed that Waghmare, who is said to have pulled the trigger at Gauri had taken weapons training from alleged kingpin Amol Kale in Belagavi. Moreover, the chargesheet filed by the SIT against K.T. Naveen Kumar mentions that Kumar had held meetings with others co-conspirators at Belagavi.
