Several politicians and thousand of people participated in the last rites and paid their respects.
According to historical sources, the British Indian government had issued a ‘kill at sight’ warrant against Mahadevappa for his leading the protests for denying tax to King Bhave of Ramadurg in 1939. For this reason, he had gone into hiding for 8 years.
Post independence, Mahadevappa had contested as Lokaseva Sangh candidate in the 1957 Assembly elections and defeated a Congress candidate.
