Five perish as car plunges into 50 ft gorge in Tilari Ghats

Belagavi: In a tragic incident, a Wagon R car carrying five people plunged into a 50 foot gorge on Sunday, July 8, when it was travelling in the Tilari ghats in the Chandgad taluk of Kolhapur.

All the five perished in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Pankaj Killekar of Shivaji Nagar, Nagendra Babu Gavde of Ashte, Yallapa Patil of Bokmur, Kishan Gavade of old Belagavi and Nitin Redekar of Balekundri, all employees of Bhakti Mahila Cooperative Society in Belagavi.

It is learnt the five people were out on a planned one-day picnic in the Tilari Ghats. They were on their way back at around 4 PM, after sight-seeing, when their car fell off the road’s edge at a turning near Lashkar Point.
