Fake notes worth Rs 7 Cr to be distributed among voters seized in Belagavi

Belagavi: In yet another seizure in poll-bound Karnataka, the Belagavi police arrested one person with over Rs 7 crore counterfeit notes at PWD quarters at Visveswarayya Nagar in wee hours of April 18.

The arrested is Ajit Kumar Nidoni, a native of Vijayapura. Reportedly the notes so seized during the operation were to be used to lure the voters to cast votes in favor of a political party.

The APMC police, acting on a tipoff, raided the premises and nabbed the accused red-handed in possesion of 25,300 notes of Rs 500 denomination and 29,300 notes of Rs 2000 denomination.
