Belagavi: Pandemonium broke out in the Council when both the ruling and the opposition groups took exception to the errors that were seen in the proposed annual budget 2018-19 of Belagavi city corporation (BCC).
Sanjay Sawwaseri, Chairman for Taxation, Finance and appeals standing committee presented Rs 16.17 lac surplus annual budget for the BCC, which projects a revenue of Rs 318.52 cr from various sources and expenditure of Rs 318. 36 cr.
However, when the budget booklet was unveiled, Chairman of PWD standing committee Sarala Herekar pointed out that the names of the chairmen of standing committees were skipped while names of former chairmen were printed.
Several other technical errors in the booklet were raised by other councillors.
The members said that the budget should be presented some other day after rectifying the errors.
However, Commissioner Shashidhar Kurer said that the mistakes occurred due to shortage of time for preparation as there was compulsion from the government to prepare the budget before February. He said that a revised budget will be presented before the Mayor for approval.
Mayor Sanjyot Bandekar said that errors and components left from proposed budget should be corrected in two days and only then it will be approved by the Council.
