Belagavi: Every couple wishes to have a grand wedding. But this marriage with a difference will surely make a difference.

Gajanana Mane and Snehal Davare from Belagavi decided to get married in an ashram in the presence of HIV affected children.

It was an arranged marriage. The couple initially had to face opposition from both the families for their decision to get married in a simple manner that too at an ashram.

It was one of the relatives of Gajanana who introduced Ashakiran Children’s Care Home of Mahesh Foundation, a home for the HIV affected children. Gajanana discussed about Ashakiran with Snehal and both decided to hold their wedding at the centre. Though their families opposed they managed to convince them.

Gajanana contacted the founder of Mahesh Foundation and fixed the date, a week before the wedding. Gajanana’s friends and family made necessary arrangements and decorated the Ashram. The abandoned children at the centre were given new clothes for the wedding.

Over 100 relatives and friends joined the unique yet meaningful wedding at the ashram and blessed the couple.

Mahesh Jadhav and his wife Madhu, founders of Mahesh Foundation completed the Kanyadan ritual.
