Belagavi: In a case that went on for two and half years, a man was sentenced to life imprisonment in a sensational triple murder case that had shocked the entire district.
On April 16, the Second Additional District and Sessions court, found accused Pravin Bhat guilty of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment. It also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.
Pravin Bhat, who was living in a rented room in Kuvempu Nagar to pursue his CA studies, had brutally murdered a women and her two children fearing that his illicit relation would hinder his career ambitions.
According to the chargesheet, Bhat had developed intimate relations with the neighbour Rina Malagatti (32). He wanted to end his relationship, but Rina, who wanted otherwise, threatened to disclose the affair. Fearing that his career would end if the news spread, Bhat murdered Rina and her kids Aditya (11) and Sahitya (3) on the night of 16 August 2015.
