Belagavi: Amidst protests over the delay in the release of relief funds to the flood-hit pockets of Karnataka, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has issued work orders for the construction of houses in the Belagavi district.
The CM said that the government has already credited the first instalment of Rs 1 lakh into the bank accounts of each of the beneficiaries who lost their houses to floods. “The government will provide Rs 5 lakhs for construction of houses that have completely collapsed and for the reconstruction of homes which are unsafe to live in,” he said stressing that the Centre will release funds within the next few days.
He further said that the government will provide at least Rs 5 lakhs for the construction of classrooms in schools that were damaged in the floods. Separate funds will also be given for the construction of damaged Anganwadis.
