Belagavi police inspect Hindalga jail following shocking revelations on jail-break by arrested sharp-shooters

Belagavi: Close on the heels of nabbing six sharp-shooters, alleged to be henchmen of underworld element Ravi Poojary in Belagavi, the district police visited Hindalga jail and inspected the cell of Dinesh Shetty, a close aide of Poojary.The arrested sharp-shooters had revealed that they were in Belagavi to make sure that Shetty escapes from the jail. The six had also revealed about the jail-break plan.

DCP G Radhika, Amaarnath Reddi, ACP Jay Kumar and CCB Inspector B R Gaddekar among other officers visited the jail and collected details for over three hours.

As per sources, the team found a mobile phone in possession of Dinesh Shetty affirming the revelations made by the sharp-shooters.

The team also looked into the security aspects of the jail, how Shetty may have planned the escape plot sitting inside the jail and how he had established contact with the sharp-shooters despite mobile network jammers in place in jail.

The team is also looking at the possible link and role of the jail personnel in the escape plan.

After a face-off between the police and the sharp-shooters in District Hospital premises and exchange of fire between the two factions on Wednesday evening, the police emerged victorious over the six anti-social elements, who have been identified as Veera Madanreddi from Bengaluru, Avinash Marke and Amjad Sayyed from Mumbai, Mohommed Haneef and Abdul Kareem from Puttur were nabbed by the cops from District Hospital premises where sixth accused Tahir Hussein alias Anupam Gowda was nabbed from Belagavi Sambra Airport. Gulfaz, the seventh accused managed to flee.

The arrested had five pistols, 29 live bullets, 15 mobiles, one car and several other weapons in their possession.

Dinesh Shetty was nabbed in connection to murder of Mangaluru based advocate Naushad, who had taken case for Raheed Malabari.
