Belagavi: A BJP leader from Belagavi has been arrested for cutting his birthday cake using a sword.
On February 1, Nikhil Murkute, BJP district youth wing president had cut his birthday cake using a sword, during a party organised in a city hotel.
Local MLA Anil Benake, former MLA Sanjay Patil had visited the party and wished the leader and it is said that the incident had happened before their arrival.
His friends uploaded the picture, which showed Nikhil cutting the cake using a sword on social media, which went viral. As the pressure mounted, Malamaruti police raided his residence on Monday night and arrested him. The sword used for cutting the cake was also seized.
