Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is probing the murder of Yogesh Gowda, a Zilla Panchayat member from Dharwad and BJP leader in September 2016 detained Chandrasekhar Indi, maternal uncle of former minister Vinay Kulkarni from his residence in Vijayapura.

Vinay Kulkarni is already in judicial custody in this case.

Indi is facing the charges of giving revolver to contract killers to murder Gowda, a supporter of Prahlad Joshi, a union minister.

According to the sources, two contract killers from Vijayapura are also in the CBI net for supplying three country-made revolvers to Indi, which was then given to the killers.

It can be recalled that the Congress is alleging that the BJP is using this murder case to settle political scores against its political rivals in the North Karnataka region.
