Bengaluru: The coalition government between the Congress and JD(S) with HD Kumaraswamy at its helm will go for floor test today to prove its majority in the new Assembly.
However, just a day ahead of the trust vote, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, while speaking to reporters has said that the coalition has not yet decided if Kumarswamy will continue as the chief minister for the full five-year term.
Notably, the Congress party had initially offered its unconditional support to Kumaraswamy becoming the chief minister. Also Kumaraswamy had dismissed reports of any possible power sharing formula between the two parties.
“We have not yet discussed those modalities. We are also yet to decide on what portfolios have to go to them and what should be with us, then five years term- whether they should be or we should also…All those modalities we have still not discussed. After discussing.. Looking at the pros and cons (we will decide on full 5-year term),” Parameshwara said on Thursday.
However, Parameshwara added that focus of the coalition government would be on providing a good administration. He also ruled out any fissures within Congress party over the post of Deputy Chief Minister while exuding confidence that the government will be able to pass the floor test.
