Bengaluru: Riyaz Ahmed (61), a roadside watch repair technician approached the Upparpet police station alleging that his life is under threat as he was shown as a suspected terrorist in a few Kannada news channels.

It can be recalled that, on Monday, a suspicious person returned from the Majestic Metro Station after security personnel asked him to undergo further security checks. A CCTV camera had captured this man’s image and along with him, this road side watch repair technician was also captured.

Without verifying his identity, a few Kannada channels aired the news that Ahmed is one of the two suspected in the case. As the news went viral, Ahmed rushed to the police station with his family members and friends saying that he is not a terrorist and the news may pose a problem for him.

Addressing the media, Riyaz asked if all those who wear a long shirt (pizama) and grow a beard are terrorists.

“Everyone is suspecting me today. My life is in danger,” he said. Explaining why he appeared in the CCTV footage, he said, “Every day I use the metro to reach my home.”
