Bengaluru: In the wake of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) global outbreak, the state labour department has rolled out a notification on Thursday, March 5.
According to the notification, if a worker has tested positive for Covid-19, he/she would be entitled to take a 28-day paid leave. Based on the medical certificate produced by the health officer, the worker can avail treatment for 28 days in specified ESI hospitals. The doctors have been directed to take immediate cognizance of the situation and treat the patient.
If the individual doesn’t fall under the ESI Act, then that individual can avail for treatment under the Karnataka Shops and Establishment Act and go on a paid leave for 28 days.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioners of the respective districts have been instructed to be alert and take all necessary preventive and precautionary measures.
