Bengaluru: Amrita, the 33-year-old techie who has been accused of murdering her mother, Nirmala (55), a resident of Akshaya Nagar in KR Puram, has now been provided with counselling support as she allegedly tried to commit suicide twice. She has been brought back to Bengaluru city and is currently in judicial custody.

Amrita was arrested in Andaman as she was trying to inflict injury on herself by hitting her head on the walls. First, she tried to hurt herself in the Andaman islands and repeated the attempt in the KR Puram police station. She has been provided with the necessary medical support as she was found to be mentally disturbed.

Amrita’s boyfriend, Shridhara Rao has also been arrested by police.

According to sources, Amrita, who was drawing a salary of up to Rs 60,000 in 2018, quit her job. Her family was reportedly in extreme debt as they had taken out loans of over Rs 15 lakhs. “She wanted to commit suicide after murdering her mother and brother as she feared that the bank loan recovery agents may dent their reputation,” sources added.
