Bengaluru: A woman out for a walk at night, was attacked by a man who allegedly tried to strip her. She managed to fight off her attacker and handed him over to the police.
The woman, a 25-year-old software engineer, had gone out for a walk near her PG accommodation in Kundalahalli at around 9.15 pm when she was attacked by Vijay Kumar, a bar-bender.
The police informed that Kumar jumped at the woman and tried to rip her shirt open and threw her to the ground. The woman managed to get back and immediately began to thrash her attacker. Panicked, Kumar took to his heels but, was caught by the woman with the help of a passer-by.
While the police have said that Kumar was intoxicated and was unaware of what had happened, the woman has alleged that he intentionally attacked her, misbehaved and tried to disrobe her on the street.
According to police, the woman is a native of Odisha who came to Bengaluru in the month of April after getting a job with a major IT company.
The woman has filed a complaint with the police and her attacker has been arrested.
