Bengaluru: A woman army officer has alleged that her collegue, a senior officer has raped her. Reportedly, the accused raped her in his car after they attended a party together.
The accused is identified as Major Amit Choudhary and the army is conducting a court of inquiry into the incident.
However, an FIR against the Major has been filed as well, under sections 376 (rape) and 323 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code, in the Halasuru police station. Amit has been granted interim bail till March 21 by a local court.
Speaking to The News Minute, Rahul Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) said, “We will take all necessary steps and finish the investigations at the earliest. If the investigation officer feels that the accused needs to be arrested later, he will be.”
Reportedly, the incident occured on the night of February 4 after the victim and the accused attended a party hosted by a Brigadier in the Bengaluru ASC Centre at HAL Old Airport Road. The victim has alleged that she was raped by Amit while on a drive together after the party.
According to sources from the police, all the evidences have been gathered including the car and the victim has undergone medical examination as well and the relevant materials have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory.
