Bengaluru: The state Excise Minister has made it clear that no wine shop will be allowed to open before 8 am.
State excise minister R B Thimmapur has directed the state excise department to fix functional timings for the bar and restaurants.
Reacting to the complaints that few wine shops are opened at 6 am itself in various parts of the state, R B Thimmapur informed that as per the rule book wine shops should not be opened before 8 am. “But there is no fixed opening time for bar and restaurants. But the closing time for bar and restaurants in Bengaluru is 1 am while in rest of the cities It is 11 am. I have directed the officers to fix even opening timings,” he said.
R B Thimmapur also informed that as per the Supreme Cour order, 789 wine shops have been shifted from road side across the state. “Originally more than 3,000 wine shops were shut down as per the SC order. But now as city limits are exempted from this order, most of the wine shops are functioning,” he said.
