Will not contest from any constituency other than Mandya: Sumalata Ambareesh

Bengaluru: In a big headache to the coalition government, actress Sumalata, wife of former minister Late MH Ambareesh has made it clear that she will not contest from any other constituency except Mandya.

Speaking to the reporters after meeting Adichunchanagiri seer on Sunday she stated that she is ready to plunge into the electoral politics, but she will not leave Mandya constituency.

Rebel Star Ambareesh hailed from Mandya and was also called ‘Mandyada Gandu’.

“My husband was a Congress leader. So I will be with the Congress. I am interested to contest in the upcoming election on a Congress ticket from Mandya. If party leaders give me a ticket, I will contest,” she announced adding that Ambareesh’s fans have been urging her to contest polls and so are the people from the film fraternity.

“Mandya was our ‘Karma bhumi’. So I wanted to contest from there,” she said.

She also declined to comment on the statements of JDS leaders against her stating she shouldn’t bother about such issues.
