Whopping 3,176 cases take state’s COVID tally closer to 50K, 87 more dead

Bengaluru: The state reported a record 3,176 new COVID-19 cases and 87 deaths on Wednesday, July 15. This brings the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus infections to 47,253 and death toll to 928.

Bengaluru Urban reported 1,975 cases and Dharwad reported 139 new cases. Ballari reported 136 new cases.

Meanwhile, 1,076 people were discharged after making a full recovery from the disease. However, 597 people are being treated in ICUs across the state.

The breakup of the fresh cases are: Mysuru (99), Vijayapura (80), Dakshina Kannada (76), Kalaburagi (67), Udupi (52), Yadagir (49), Uttara Kannada (48), Belagavi (41), Gadag (39), Bidar (35), Davanagere (35), Bagalkot (34), Chikkaballapura (32), Mandya (31), Shivamogga (29), Raichuru (26), Hassan (25), Tumakuru (24), Kogadu (23), Kolar (15), Koppala (14), Chikkamagaluru (13), Chitradurga (12), Bengaluru Rural (10), Chamarajanagara (8), Haveri (6), and Ramanagara (3).

There are 27,853 active COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, a total of 18,466 have been discharged. Additionally, six people have died of non-COVID causes.

Meanwhile, several districts in the state have gone into lockdown to control the spread of the disease.
