Bengaluru: The police have arrested three persons on Wednesday in connection with wheeling incident that claimed one life on Old Madras Road on September 1.  The police have identified one of the accused as Kirtan Richie. The other arrested persons are L Chandrasekhar, a contractor, and his son, a minor.
According to the police, Kiran Richie, aged 18 years, is the son of D Venkatesh, co-owner of Jive Pub. The police said the accused has confessed to have caused the death of the victim due to wheeling on Old Madras Road. It is said that Kiran Richie, a first year student of JD Institute of Fashion Technology and does not have a driving licence,  is crazy about bikes and used to indulge in wheeling on empty roads regularly. His father had bought him a sports bike – Yamaha R15 – two years ago which met with an accident at Hebbal in 2014. The police said Kiran Richie used to take friends’ bikes for indulging in wheeling.

According to the police, the accused has claimed of having met the victim – Shiny Kiran – for the first time on Saturday afternoon (August 27) at a drinks DJ party at LoveShack pub, Koramangala and became friends and exchanged phone numbers. They were in touch for the next four to five days on phone and WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, the son of L Chandrasekhar,  aged 16 years, without driving licence had purchased a used bike – KA-32H-2591 – with the help of ‘wheeling expert’ Kiran Richie on August 31 from Thippasandra for Rs 38,000. The bike was modified for wheeling by removing the mudguard and modifying the steering handle.

On September 1, Kiran Richie borrowed the bike from this minor and called the deceased – Shiny Kiran – and picked her up from KFC, Indiranagar and took her to a park at Kasturi Nagar. While returning home, Kiran Richie did wheeling to impress Shiny Kiran, who was riding pillion. As a result, the girl fell down and a passing Canter vehicle ran over her. In order to save himself, the accused escaped from the spot without bothering about the victim.

Kiran Richie has been arrested and produced before the court. A case has been registered against him under Section 304 of Indian Penal Code. The contractor and his minor son were also arrested for abetment of murder under Section 304 of the IPC.
