Bengaluru: As retaliation against the arrest of senior Congress leader and former water resource minister D K Shivakumar by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an alleged money laundering case, the Vokkaliga Sangha staged a protest here on Wednesday, September 11.
The protest rally, which began from the National College, headed towards Raj Bhavan according to a report by ANI.
As the protest spread across the city, humongous traffic congestion was observed.
The security was also beefed up across the city to avoid any untoward incident.
It can be recalled that DKShi, being one of the most prominent leaders from the Vokkaliga community, was summoned by the ED back in in December 2018, to answer questions regarding the unaccounted cash found in his New Delhi apartment during an IT raid. They had probed the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and submitted a report to the I-T department.
DKShi had challenged the summons in the Karnataka High Court. However, his attempts to quash the summons went in vain when on August 29, the court dismissed his petition.
The former minister was arrested on September 3 after a four-day interrogation by the ED.
