Visuals of Nalapad Haris at Congress protest raises eyebrows

Bengaluru: The nationwide bandh in protest against the rise in fuel prices, called by the Congress-led opposition on September 10, saw a mixed response from the citizens across the country. While some states fully supported the protest, others were unaffected by it. In Karnataka, however, things took a violent turn in some areas, where clashes were seen between those supporting the protest and those opposing it.

While many prominent figures were seen in these protests across Karnataka, one familiar face, however, was not expected to be seen out in the open so soon! In the midst of the crowds protesting the rise in fuel prices, was Mohammed Nalapad, son of Congress MLA N A Haris.

Haris junior was seen standing next to his father supporting the protestors while donning a white outfit paired with the Congress shawl.

Nalapad was charged with the brutal assault of a man named Vidvat in UB City, Bengaluru, and was only recently released from prison on conditional bail. His involvement in the assault even got him banished from the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) for six years.

There was widespread outrage over the assault and leaders from the BJP, as well as the Congress, had condemned the incident. His appearance at the protest rally and that of his visage in promotional materials used by N A Haris’ supporters may be a hint that he has returned to the Congress party, although Nalapad did not respond to the queries regarding his return to the party.
