Bengaluru: If everything goes as planned, passengers can travel between Bengaluru-Hubballi within 30 minutes and Bengaluru-Chennai within 20 minutes. The speedy travel will not hurt your pockets as well, as it may just cost you the fare of a regular bus ticket. All this may be possible due to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the government of Karnataka (GoK) and Virgin Hyperloop.

As per the MoU signed between the representatives of Virgin Hyperloop and state IT BT minister Priyank Kharge on Thursday at the ongoing Tech Summit, the company will set up a development center in the state to study the implication of hyperloop transport system between Bengaluru-Hubbali and Bengaluru-Chennai. The company also wants to conduct a feasibility study on the Tumakuru-Hosur stretch via Bengaluru.

According to the company representatives, the decision of developing the hyperloop system on all these routes will be based on the outcome of the feasibility study. Thanks to the hyperloop transport system the travel time between strategic places will be reduced substantially.

What is a hyperloop transport system?

A hyperloop transport system makes use of magnetic levitation in low pressure systems to transport persons or goods via sealed vacuum tubes through high speed pods moving at speeds of nearly 1000 kms an hour.
