Bengaluru: The Ballari district administration registered a criminal case against M S Subhas, Vice Chancellor of the Vijayanagara Shrikrishna Devaraya University, for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
According to sources, on March 12, the VC had arranged interviews for various teaching posts at the varsity. But as the MCC was already in place, DC Dr V Ramaprasad directed him not to go ahead with the interviews. The VC, however, disregarded the DC’s direction and went ahead with the interviews. They were stopped only after the intervention of officials in the evening.
A criminal case was registered at the Vijayanagara Rural Police Station based on a complaint filed by the election in-charge officers after a show cause notice was issued to the VC.
