Varuna or Chamundeshwari? Intel inputs leave Siddu perplexed

Bengaluru: It seems Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is yet undecided on whether he should contest from Chamundeshwari or Varuna constituency in Mysuru during the upcoming state Assembly elections.

While the CM had earlier announced his desire to contest from Chamundeshwari constituency for emotional reasons, intelligence inputs have advised Siddaramaiah to relook into the decision, which they opine is not a safe bet.

Based on these inputs, Siddaramaiah it is learnt is now reconsidering if he should contest from Varuna constituency itself where he has emerged victorious twice in the past.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had hinted at fielding his son, Dr Yathindra from Varuna if he got a party ticket while choosing to contest from Chamundeshwari.

The Chamundeshwari constituency, consisting of a huge Vokkaliga population is presently represented by JD(S) leader G T Deve Gowda, who belongs to the community. The JD(S) leaders, including Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda are going to put in their combined efforts to ensure that Siddaramaiah does not win from this region, since it is a matter of prestige.
